8th Place Nebraska went to Camp Randall to play 7th Place Wisconsin Sat October 1, 2011.
The stadium in Madison was impressive and comparable to Memorial Stadium in Lincoln. A lot of Husker fans made the trek to Wisconsin to cheer on their favorite team and they were heard in the crowd.
ESPN Gameday even broadcast from Wisconsin. Nebraska came out looking good in the beginning and was first to score. Wisconsin came back with a score of their own and Nebraska scored again. Then the magic ended; the penalties and interceptions were overwhelming. Martinez began to make critical errors and the young secondary was outmatched.
By the second half Nebraska handed the ball to Wisconsin and they capitalized on interceptions. Nebraska got their last score via a field goal.
Wisconsin strolled up and down the field. The defense and offense for Nebraska were playing hard but nothing doing and Wisconsin outplayed the Huskers.
Gotta hand it to the Badgers; they are the better team. The final score WI 48 and NE 17. The Huskers do not need to hang their heads. Maybe a little. But Cornhuskers don't beat yourself up over the game; that happened in Wisconsin. Time to move on and prepare for next week.
I knew the Badgers were favored to win but I had hoped that Nebraska would win 17 - 14. Absolutely I'm disappointed but it is what it is. Mental errors need to be corrected. Coverage was lacking but the Huskers will bounce back and should Nebraska meet again in this season this blogger hopes they'll be better prepared.
I stand by the Huskers and believe! Go Big Red!!!
