It was a night game, viewed by thousands on national television and Nebraska was headed toward a
huge loss. I believed this would be a slam dunk for Nebraska as my sources stated this would be a win for the Huskers.
It was not going well for NU, Crick had left the game and he was not himself and it was obvious. Rain began to fall and it was typical fall weather for a football game in Nebraska. It was not so typical with Nebraska down 6 to 27 in the half. Was this to be a repeat of the thrashing Nebraska took at Wisconsin the previous week? It had all the markings of a replay.
Burkhead being Burkhead worked hard. Martinez played well. How could Nebraska recover? There is no way the Cornhuskers could suffer another huge loss especially on home turf. Then stepped up defensive player, Lavonte David who literally stripped the ball from the Ohio State QB. Game on.
It was the greatest come back in Nebraska so the stats say. Sucking it up and knowing they could win this game the team came together and they rallied along with their successes. Nebraska took a loss and brought it to a plus on Saturday night and went on to win the game 34-27 win over Ohio State. Impressive.
Some may say, we won because Braxton Miller (Ohio QB) left the game because of a sprained ankle. Injuries happened for a reason and again Crick our leading defensive player was not himself. There was a moment in time as Ndamukong Suh, now with the Detroit Lions, who played along side Crick last year was mentioned as suiting up and playing defense. Instead he stayed on the sideline to watch the game.
Whew, as a true fan of Nebraska- I'm glad that game is over. However, I ponder why when Nebraska had a minute plus on the clock and were in scoring range, took a knee. There was opportunity for another touchdown. It could have been done or was Pelini so lacking in faith that the ball may have been fumbled, fall into the hands of Ohio State and they would obtain a touchdown? I say go for it and make the touchdown for the Cornhuskers.
Compared to Oklahoma who beat Texas earlier in the day; the Sooners have no problem running up the score.
I'm proud of the young men who play Nebraska Football and congratulate them on a great comeback with a W that meant so much.
